Year 8 Art
Year 8 students in Art have been exploring the topic of food (much to their delight) and this project finished with the creation of large 3D food sculptures. Students worked in groups to construct the food using cardboard and newspaper, before covering with modroc to create the hard 'shell' or surface. They then painted their food items as accurately as possible, with some students going as far as creating tissue paper sprinkles.
The group of Year 8 students creating the rainbow cake and slice decided they wanted it to be in support of LGBTQ+, which is why the top, inside and outside of the cake are painted in the colours of different LGBTQ+ flags. The Creative department are very pleased with the results from all students! (Let's hope the next group add some fruit and veg to our 'giant's picnic').
