High Adventure on the Mendips!
Y7 Students on the Unlocking Potential programme enjoyed a fantastic overnight residential trip to Barton Camp this week (these pictures show the boys on their visit; the girls visited on different days). On the first day students devised a play-in-a-day with members of the Travelling Light theatre group. As the weather was kind the production ended up being mobile and was staged mostly outside in the grounds of the camp. The students gave a performance of the play to members of staff from Travelling Light and South Bristol Youth – who organised the trip - in the afternoon. And then it was time for an evening full of outdoor activity, including rounders, football and swimming!
On the second day the students undertook a beautiful walk to nearby Crooks Peak, a high point of the Mendips which overlooks a great deal of the surrounding countryside, including Brent Knoll and the M5 motorway! On returning to the camp they made posters about their Unlocking Potential experiences and some of the students joined Mr McCrindle in a musical performance to the rest of the group. All-in-all it was an inspirational experience!
