Our curriculum
We plan opportunities for children to learn in many different ways. Your child's learning is a balance of teacher and child led opportunities. For Maths we plan the learning through the use of White Rose and Number Sense Maths. Our Reading and Phonics is taught through the Read Write Inc programme. Writing opportunities are based on high quality and varied texts including some elements of Talk For Writing.
In Reception we do most of our learning through play and exploration. This means that what we learn is based very much upon our interests and own ideas. This approach to learning is complimented by our ‘Enquiry’ based curriculum in which children become different ‘States of Being’ such as geographers, scientists, authors, artists or musicians.
Our links with home
Class Dojo is used to share learning between home and school and then is used throughout the rest of the Primary school. ILD is the software we use to record your child’s personal learning journey and parents and carers can access this at home.
Children will bring home school reading books to share at home in their book bags. We ask for these to be read every day.
Families are invited to join us for termly Stay and Play sessions where families can visit the classroom to share in the learning.
