What is the SSC? The Student Support Centre (SSC) is a thirty place centre for students in Key Stage 3 and 4 who need additional support out of their mainstream setting to acquire the skills to enable them to access education successfully. The aim for KS3 students is to support them back into mainstream schools so that they can continue to successfully engage in their education. For KS4 students the centre offers a range of accredited programmes and we aim to support the students until the end of Y11 and on to employment or further education. What do we offer? - High quality teaching & learning, based on rigorous assessment for learning techniques.
- Specifically designed programmes of study to meet individual need as well as relevant, appropriate & personalised education which prepares students for the next steps in their education.
- a focused programme on the core skills of literacy numeracy and ICT
- an enhanced curriculum that includes an intensive pastoral, health and social programme.
- a range of diverse activities to encourage students to engage in education, achieve regular success and explore areas of interest and strength.

Key skills Students will receive daily lessons in the core subjects of Maths, English, and ICT. These subjects will be accredited and accessible at a range of levels. The emphasis will be firmly placed upon developing functional literacy and numeracy skills, as well offering wider academic and personal enrichment. Where possible these skills will be taught in modules to allow for movement of students between organisations. Life skills The SSC programme will cover other aspects of the curriculum including PHSC, careers and citizenship. Aspects of this course are accredited by ASDAN and Duke of Edinburgh Award. Work in these sessions will be heavily focused on building positive behaviours. Topics include - Anger management

Enhanced skills Students will enhance their curriculum by choosing from a range of elective subjects. These change every 12 weeks and will also be accredited where possible. Examples of these include - Environmental studies
- Volunteering group
- Sport
- Construction
- Art
- Mechanics
- Cooking
