Back to school

Bridge Learning Campus is about to launch its brand new website.  It will be a website that reflects the fact that Bridge Learning Campus is a community of schools, and over time will be filled with plenty of pictures and video content.

Please bear with us as we begin to transfer to the new site.  The web address won't change, however.

Secondary - back to school on Thursday 2nd August!

New Website Coming!

As you have probably noticed, our existing website (which was only seen as a temporary one!) is not really fit for purpose and we're very pleased to announce that by September we will have a brand new one that really reflects the true BLC.

Ski Trip 2010
The trip was absolutely brilliant! The pupils were superb and it's by far the best ski trip we've taken so far.

The students behaviour was excellent and the way they conducted themselves throughout the day in ski school and during the evening (which quite often involved mixing with the locals) was brilliant.

There were definitely some memorable moments;  Paige Tripp-Edwards face planted the floor and literally did at least 4 somersaults down the mountain, or when Sophie Wilkes ploughed into the bottom of the ski lift and took out all the net and half the public with her; or even better the year 10 girls dressed up as nerds for my birthday and then the dance off on the coach on the way to McDonald's on the last evening. (Ask the students they will tell you more).

The last evening we presented the students with some trophies and medals for a variety of different things.  Paige was awarded most impressive fall, Bradley and Sophie were awarded a trophy for most improved skiers, Hallam Crew and Yazmin Laver were awarded trophies for being good citizens, Roxy Hutchings and Lucy Gardiner were bought drinks for having the cleanest room all week. Shannon Carnell and Luke Tanner also had drinks bought for them all night for winning the pool competition.  Most dedicated skiers went to Jessii Wood and Abbie Massiah.

Lastly the overall skier of the week: runner up was Shannon Carnell, and Portia McKenzie was awarded the overall skier of the week as she was just outstanding from the start til the end.

Please congratulate all students and ask them how it went, they have lots of funny stories.

Girl's Football Final
Mr Young and I took 14 yr 8/9 girls to play the football semi-final today, we were playing Brislington Enterprise College.  We were very unlucky to have some really awful weather, but we got off to a flying start. In the first half  Amy Lovell scored an amazing goal with a 20 yard strike from the goal area (Bristol City, watch out!) to take us into the lead, unfortunately we'd lost Danielle Ash as our second striker as she was ill, so Sophie Manning stepped up to mark and also scored, making it 2-0 at the end of half time.  In the second half we played ok, made a few mistakes in defence but still managed to keep a clean sheet.  Amy Lovell then scored her second goal of the match ensuring a well deserved lead and win, the final score 3-0 to us.

This took us through to the final, so with only 5 mins to recover we then had to play Redland Green School, who have won the league for the past two years.  This game was superb to watch, even though we won the semi final we looked like a different team.  The passing in midfield by Lauren Farquharson, Kayleigh White and Heidi Tanner was excellent.  Defence worked endlessly especially Rachel Stenner who was everywhere hassling the other team, she just didn't give up.  Courtney Inder, Shannon Carnell and Shannon Tanner also ensured we didn't let Redland get anywhere near Beth Walker our Goal Keeper.  In the first half Kelsie Gunstone made a superb run, she took on two players, went straight through them and scored our first goal.  The first half finished 1-0 to us, but the team were not happy with this and were hungry for more.  In the second half Amy Lovell and Sophie Manning made sure we were not leaving without winning this game and each scored another goal.  The game finished 3-0 to us.  The girls were fantastic to watch and thoroughly enjoyed taking the trophy and medals for the girls Bristol champions of 2010.

Well done to Amy Lovell who was voted player of the match.

So we are now officially the very best at rounders and football, if you see the girls please congratulate them.  Mr Young and I are very proud of the girls, they have shown that BLC are back with a vengeance!!!!
