Student Voice

Student voice is about giving our pupils a say in the running and forming the ethos of the school. Many aspects of school life have been determined not just by teachers and leadership team, but in full consultation with pupils.  For example, the school's behaviour policy and classroom contract was created by pupils.

There are many examples of how our pupils get involved with the life of the school, and not just in lessons. For example:

  • Head boy and girl - each year the school will appoint a head boy and girl (and two deputies) They are the pupils who will represent the school, and is a very prestigious post.
  • House Captains and Ambassadors - each again represent their house and the school when required;
  • Interview panels - new staff members, as part of the normal interview process, are interviewed by a panel of pupils, who will have composed the questions for the interview.
  • School council - we have a new school council which has been relaunched this year.  All tutor groups must supply at least one representative to attend school council meetings.
  • Coaching - all our phase 4 pupils are trained in coaching, and are expected to assist younger pupils in improving their academic performance and school experience
