Phase 3
Geography is not taught as a separate subject at BLC, instead it is delivered through our Integrated Curriculum which a skills-based subject forming a substantial part of the Phase 3 timetable.
Phase 4
Phase 4 students can opt to take Geography at GCSE level. We follow the WJEC specification A exam syllabus which covers topics such as rivers, tourism, earthquakes and volcanoes, development, population and coasts. Students sit two exams - one at the end of the first year and one at the end of the second with the opportunity to re-sit the first if necessary.
Students also complete two controlled assessments based on fieldwork linked to the subject content. In the past these have included tourism studies of Bath and Weston-Super-Mare, and may in the future include studies of Cabot Circus.
The Geography team
Geography teachers at BLC are Miss Cooper, Mrs Trudgen, Miss Boyall and Ms Tunstall.
