Phase 1 Reception

We have two reception classes. One called Tucan class and the other called Parrott Class. We believe learning should be fun and exciting.  Both classes have 30 children between the ages of 4 and 5 years old.

Toucan Class
Class Teachers - Mrs Abbott & Mrs Carter
Learning Support Assistant - Mrs Payne
Our new chicks have almost grown into fully fledged Toucans! By the end of September all of Toucans will be in every day exploring new activities and making new friends. We have had a fantastic start to the year, we have visited 66% of the class at home and seen the parent/s of every single child. The children are extremely inquisitive this year and are constantly asking questions. Role play and small world is also a big hit, it is great to see so many children involved in cooking, shopping and taking babies for a walk! We have also noticed that we are going to have to be very creative this year and buy in lots of nice things to stick, glue and cut, as you can tell, we are a very busy class. We are very excited about the rest of the year!

Parrot Class
Class Teacher - Mrs Jones
Learning Support Assistant - Mrs Parslow
Watch this space for our first parent's reading morning and our first performance!
A big thank you for the number of children that have bought book bags and are reading - a fantastic start to the year.
In the next few weeks we will start teaching the children their new sounds to start blending them together and reading words.
We will all be practicing writing our names and learning about a caterpillar called Casey that will help us write our letters properly.
