All Through Education @ the Bridge
We are very fortunate that because we have a number of schools all located on the same campus site we can begin to think differently as to what we can offer our students and our community in terms of learning and education.
We have in place systems which provide students the opportunity of studying and learning at the level which best suits them at that particular moment of their development. Often in schools progress, and therefore success can be held back because the actual systems do not allow for enough personalisation - doing things at the time the child is ready and not waiting for when the school is ready.
- Phase 1 & 2 (from nursery up to year 5) - increasingly we begin to group children with similar levels of ability in number work and in literacy. In phase 2 year 2 & 3 children are mixed up together so that all of our children can make progress and be challenged at the appropriate level and time
- Phase 3 (secondary) - well actually we include top end primary children in our phase 3 so that year 6 children work alongside year 7 and year 8. In this way we can be very flexible and offer a very different learning opportunity and resources for your child. Your child will be placed into ability led groupings for each core subject. However, we are also mindful of friendship groupings and provide opportunities in the curriculum for being flexible
- Phase 4 - we actually start all of our external examination courses in year 9 rather than in year 10 as most schools. This allows us to deliver an offer which can be a mix of academic and vocational courses with GCSEs and BTECs or diplomas for all if they wish. We also provide those gifted children the opportunity to do GCSEs in one year rather than two and then to progress onto more GCSE work or even Advanced Level work before they go onto post 16 education
